In January of 2000 my life changed. The company where I had worked for nearly 15 years restructured and I suddenly found myself, in the fall of my life, forced to look for new career opportunities. One of the first decisions I made was that I was going to do something I really enjoyed.
Looking over my life I found I had a great deal to draw upon. I had spent the first 33 years of my life in Southern California, this was a time of living at the beach. The sands were warm and inviting. The soft breeze smelling of the ocean and cooled by the body. The constant rolling surf a soothing background. Everyday the people were interesting and exciting and the atmosphere filled the senses with textures, creativity, and an openness ranging from the latest fashions and music to designer coffees and teas. It was a time of pampering and enlightenment for the body, the mind and the soul.
Then there was the move to Central Rural Nevada where the closest town was 70 miles first along rugged cliffs hugging the western side of a 140 square mile and up and over the mountains through a 7,000 foot pass. From the populated coast I suddenly found myself in the wide-open spaces of the majestic mountains where the air is pure and fresh.
